Fellowship FAQ

What is the size of the studio space?

Each Studio Fellow will be provided with 24-hr access to a private studio space, between 600 – 1,000 sq ft, in the NXTHVN building. Studios will be assigned by NXTHVN.

Curatorial Fellows will be provided with a dedicated office and resource library for the duration of the Fellowship year.

What opportunities will I have to showcase my work during the Fellowship year?

NXTHVN founders and board members assist in scheduling regular studio visits with major arts institutions, curators, collectors, and arts and culture organizations. In addition, Studio Fellows will participate in an annual exhibition at the NXTHVN gallery, and bi-annual Open Studio events in the spring and fall of each year.

Will I need to find accommodations if I am relocating to New Haven?

NXTHVN Fellows must reside in or relocate to New Haven for the duration of the Fellowship. NXTHVN has some housing on campus made available to fellows at a subsidized rate. Fellows are also welcome to find their own accommodation in the Greater New Haven area.

I am an artist with foreign citizenship. Am I eligible to apply?

International artists are welcome to apply for the NXTHVN Fellowship. However, NXTHVN will not necessarily be able to cover visa and/or travel expenses at this time. International applications must also secure their own documentation for status within the USA for the duration of the Fellowship.

Will I receive confirmation that my application has been received?

Once you have completed and submitted your application, you will receive a confirmation email. Applicants will be notified of the results via email. Please ensure the email address provided on the application form is active.
