We are pleased to present our third annual Black History Month spoken word event, Black History NXT Future: An Open Mic Celebration, hosted by NXTHVN Apprentices: Assiata Ayinla, Lauriann Burt, Bri Doctor, Isaiah Hampton, Allana Herbert, Issac Perry, Luca Rivera, Ryan Rugarema, and Loretta Tam and featuring New Haven’s own Poet Laureate “Influence”. This open mic celebration showcases how Black poets have used the written and spoken word to assert the beauty and complexity of our culture and makes way for new voices and new realities.
