Join us at the Yale University Art Gallery for panel discussions (available for in-person or virtual attendance) related to the exhibition Mickalene Thomas / Portrait of an Unlikely Space and featuring artists, curators, and scholars. This program is followed by an in-person keynote conversation and reception at NXTHVN celebrating the release of the accompanying catalogue, which includes contributions by cocurators Mickalene Thomas and Keely Orgeman, the Gallery’s Seymour H. Knox, Jr., Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, as well as Deborah Willis, University Professor and Chair of the Department of Photography and Imaging at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. At the reception, presigned books will be available for sale. Food and beverages will be served and entertainment provided by DJ April Hunt.
