Please join us for a fun and family friendly photography workshop led by artist and NXTHVN alumnus Daniel Ramos. This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring photographers to hone their skills and learn more about the art of photography.
The workshop will begin with a curatorial walkthrough of the exhibition COMMON PRACTICE: Public Access led by John Dennis, NXTHVN’s Creative Director. The exhibition examines the role and importance of “the park” in the formations of communities. Contributing artists utilize photography, photo collage, and film to explore the impact of basketball as a cultural medium and its capacity for community building. Following the walkthrough, Daniel Ramos will lead a “photo walk” of the Dixwell neighborhood, instructing participants on how to utilize natural lighting and the basics of composition.
At the conclusion of the workshop, attendees will be invited to submit their photos to be included in a community-based and interactive component of COMMON PRACTICE: Public Access. A selection of photos will be printed and featured in the NXTHVN gallery lobby, as well as on our website.
