Reverence Closing Celebration with Artist & Family Talk

Sunday, November 23
3PM-6PM

Join us as we bring our beloved exhibition, Reverence: An Archival Altar New Haven, to a close. Make art in memory of loved ones: write a letter to future generations; collage on canvases, memory boxes, and church fans; print out family photos from your phone to include in your artworks. Hear from artists and families who participated in the exhibition on what it meant for them to publicly share their stories of a family “great” and create and see artwork that memorializes that loved one. All ages are welcome.

This program is part of the nation-wide Fall of Freedom weekend. Across the nation, artists and community organizers are gathering November 21-22, 2025 as part of an urgent call to the arts community to unite in defiance of authoritarian forces sweeping the nation. Through a wave of creative resistance, venues of all kinds are hosting exhibitions, performances, and public events that celebrate the experiences, cultures, and identities that shape the fabric of the nation.
